my own mail is full of bills and advertisements and invitations to things i’m not ever going to attend. but every so often i get someone else’s mail in my box. i read it, even if its a bill or an advertisement or a free coupon to Target.
when all is said and done, and the war is final, they will always be there, amongst the empty buildings and silent sky.
when you think about it real hard, we are all ones and zeroes, zeroes and ones. some of that makes hard substances like concrete. other times there’s a conflict between the ones and the zeroes and it’s in those spaces that you have to be careful because that’s where they can come out and get you.
that’s the one for me.
the pretzels always looks good and fresh until you bite into them and they taste like cardboard and then you curse yourself for spending three bucks for them because now you’re thirsty and even more unsatisfied than when you convinced yourself you really needed a pretzel and that the last pretzel you had was bad but that was just probably a fluke.
they were singing
something like color me badd
it’s a union square thing i guess.
across the jetstream they went.
up up and away
she held on
as did her aide.
they waited for the
light to turn white
i jaywalked so i wouldn’t miss them
she smiled
but only later
